Law Enforcement & First Responders
Training & Pairing Up Program
We know that many law enforcement agencies have only recently had the importance of mental health training pressed upon them. It’s not their fault. As a society, we largely stigmatized mental health issues. Thankfully, the tides are turning. Today, more and more people know that mental health challenges are just as serious as physical health challenges and that includes people working in law enforcement roles.
Working with the people and tools in place
We believe that partnering with local law enforcement agencies and individuals empowers both our team and theirs. When we come together, we blend our expertise in mental health care with their detailed knowledge of the communities they serve.
This allows us to reach people where they’re at. While some people in mental health crises call into our line, many don’t. If someone else sees their distress and calls the police about them, we want to give law enforcement professionals a resource they can use. Once on the scene, they can call into our line with the individual so our trained, caring team can help navigate the situation at hand.
Offering training to law enforcement agencies
As all of our eyes open to the importance of proper mental health care, we want to help law enforcement agencies offer the right training to their team. Any law enforcement agency can contact us for help exploring their education options.
Together with local law enforcement agencies across the country, we aim to bring people caring, compassionate mental health care while providing the quick, safety-protecting response that’s necessary in mental health crises.
A Tool In Their Back Pocket
First responders go through extensive training to prepare for their roles. With so much to learn to potentially save a life, it’s hard to tell them to heap yet another learning area on. But we do believe that mental health training can be critical.
That’s why we keep our call center manned with trained, experienced mental health responders. When first responders are on the scene, they can call into our line with any individual in a state of mental health crisis. That way, our team can help them navigate the situation, ensuring the individual gets the personalized, informed mental health care they need in the moment.
Support the mission
Get Involved
If you want to join us on our mission to create a national network of mental health care and awareness, we would be absolutely thrilled to have your support. We’re building a nationwide community of volunteers. Contact us to learn more about our volunteer opportunities.
In addition to the time of dedicated individuals, we also need funding. Financial support for our National Crisis Relief Fund allows us to extend our reach. Not only does it support all of the work we mentioned above, but it also helps us respond quickly in a crisis. After a disaster like a mass shooting, your donation helps us respond by giving the survivors access to the mental health services they need to process their trauma.
