Always Ready To Respond
At Hollywood Addiction Center, we’re ready to respond to a broad variety of situations. As our name suggests, we want to be ready whenever an individual experiences a mental health emergency or encounters someone else under this kind of duress.
With our goal of being ready whenever needed, we make sure our team is trained in crisis negotiation and suicide prevention. We learn how to manage hostage situations and communicate effectively with those who have barricaded themselves and people who are threatening violence to themselves and others.
Active Training In:
Crisis Negotiation
Whenever a volunteer joins our call center team, they receive training in crisis negotiation from our seasoned staff. During that training, we use a wide range of resources to make sure every team member at our call center is ready to handle even the most dire crises.
We walk them through assisting in a hostage situation, for example, or reaching people who are threatening to commit acts of violence. We pull our training from the experts, looking to resources like the National Institute of Mental Illness’s (NAMI’s) Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program.
The CIT program is designed to prepare law enforcement professionals to respond to mental health crises. By leveraging it for our team, we’re prepared to not only respond to a crisis but also to effectively come alongside any officers at the scene.
Suicide Prevention
As a mental health crisis hotline, we know that many of our calls will be from individuals considering suicide or their worried loved ones. That’s why our team receives extensive training in suicide prevention.
Here, we use resources from NAMI and other reputable organizations to prepare our call center responders. That includes completing the Mental Health First Aid training course.
At the end of the day, we’re committed to make sure the caring individuals answering calls at Hollywood Addiction Center are ready to handle any crisis.
