The Heartbreaking Reality Of Racism
Recent waves of protests and awareness campaigns have cast a spotlight on the way Black Americans have faced racism day in and day out. They’re not alone. America has a long history of racism toward Asians, Latinx community members, and more.
The heartbreaking reality is that many people of color will personally experience discrimination because of their race at some point during their lives. Unsurprisingly, that will take a toll on their mental health.
In some cases, that racism can throw people into a mental health crisis. When that occurs, our team at Hollywood Addiction Center Emergency Mental Health Response (EMHR) is ready to step in and help.
Helping You Through Each Step
Racism is essentially an attack on another individual’s worth. When you’re the victim of such an attack, it’s easy to feel less-than. Experiencing racism can leave people feeling anxious or depressed. It can send them into a panic attack or lead to suicidal thoughts.
But people who face racism don’t have to walk the path ahead alone.
At Hollywood Addiction Center, our team is trained to help address unwelcome thoughts and emotions. Our staff is skilled in suicide prevention and committed to providing immediate mental health support when people need it most.
Our Way To End Racism
We wish we had a way to go out and stop racism in its tracks. While we lack the ability to do that, we’re turning to our call center. We can’t stop racism but we can ensure that after people experience it, they still have what they need to lead healthy, happy lives.
By stepping in when people experience mental distress as a result of racism, we hope we can prevent that unfair incident from having long-reaching effects.
If you or someone you know ever needs urgent mental health care as a result of racism, we hope you will call our trained, committed team.
