Implementing Preparedness Tactics
We’re lucky enough to live in a world where the experts often make their expertise widely available. That’s especially true of those who are most seasoned in handling crises. The Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the FBI all offer extensive resources. And we’ve used those resources to train our Hollywood Addiction Center Emergency Mental Health Response team.
We believe that by blending these resources with mental health education and a commitment to compassionate care, we’re creating a team uniquely suited to handle just about anything.
Utilize A Network Of Crises Resources
The aforementioned departments and bureaus handle a wide range of crises. They step in when we experience mass shootings, natural disasters, and more. And they’ve distilled some of that experience down into a broad variety of resources.
If you’d like to learn more about those resources, you can check out the library offered by the following bureaus or departments:
Department of Homeland Security Training Resources
Department of Defense Defense Innovation Marketplace
FBI Resources
We believe that by reading the literature these groups put out and by participating in select trainings through them, we can best equip our call center team.
There’s no sense recreating the wheel, right? We lean into their preparedness resources so we can best respond quickly and proactively whenever someone calls into our center with a crisis.
Blending Research
With Progress
That said, we’re not necessarily copying protocols from any of these groups. Instead, we’re blending their tried-and-true methods with our specialization in mental health and our dedication to care for each person with whom we connect.
Our goal is to create the most educated, equipped, easy-to-work-with call center agents possible. We’re grateful to have federal resources to use as we work to provide people with the best, most meaningful mental health crisis care possible.
